Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff became so well-known this year for sporting a "rally thong" that people forgot he led the team in every meaningful offensive category.

The team didn't forget, today awarding Huff a two-year, $22-million extension. That'll buy a lot of thongs. And that's what local thong purveyors are hoping.

"I don't know how many baseball fans wear thongs," said Chris Jones, a sales associate at Injeanious. "The Castro is not a huge demographic for sports fans -- but I'm sure in the right demographic [Huff] could be" a big factor.

If Huff wants to be a "thong ambassador," Jones feels there's no reason he couldn't be. "Why not, if that's the statement he's going for?"

SF Weekly spoke with several thong purveyors who'd never heard of

Huff or his rally thong -- which is odd, as the ballplayer grabs most

of the top spots when you do a Google search for "San Francisco" and "Thong." But even they agreed that this is the first signing the Giants have ever made that might affect their sales.

Danna Francis at Foxy Lady Boutique said she's unfamiliar with Huff and his undergarments of choice, but has sold many thongs, some of them in black and orange. But that's not a team thing: "It's just because. We are a boutique."

You can buy a Giants-colored thong at Foxy Lady even if you're a size XXXL, by the way -- a hell of a lot bigger than the rangy Huff.

"Everyone needs love and affection," notes Francis.

Sure, sure. But a Panda-sized thong?

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
