A reliable source has informed
SF Weekly that, in a moment of bitter irony, two people were shot last night at a vigil mourning
shooting victim Stephen Powell. One attendee was hit in the face and another in the leg at a gathering at Third and Quesada, a spot the 19-year-old Powell purportedly used to frequent. Both are expected to survive.

Powell was one of three people shot in the Castro on Pink Saturday; police arrested and charged 20-year-old Ed Perkins with the crime. Perkins himself was a shooting victim last year and police believe he and the former prep basketball star Powell knew one another -- this was not a homophobic attack, despite the fact it sent hundreds of Gay Pride revelers running.
Our calls to the San Francisco Police public information office have not yet been returned. Our sources, meanwhile, note that, predictably, nobody seemed to see anything at last night's 8 p.m. shooting. More as we know more.
