SF Doctor Busted with Special K at SFO

Details are still emerging in the arrest yesterday of a San Francisco doctor accused of smuggling ketamine -- an animal tranquilizer for vets, an incapacitating party drug for the rest of us -- into San Francisco International Airport.

Keith Loring, 47, was booked sometime yesterday afternoon for possession of a controlled substance after authorities apparently boarded his flight from Burbank as it arrived at the terminal. A bag "containing drug paraphernalia" was found on Loring's seat on the plane, according to Bay City News.

SFO is an interesting gray area for law enforcement: the San Francisco Police Department maintains a station there, but since it's San Mateo County, sheriffs there also patrol the area. County sheriffs appear to have conducted the investigation.

While The Snitch doesn't know who even uses ketamine anymore, the drug is popular with ravers -- you crazy kids! -- and the arrest does come a few weeks after two ravers died after a Cow Palace fete. That, too, occurred in San Mateo County, but any connection between the two events is purely speculative.

Loring does not appear to have a criminal record, according to San Mateo County Sheriff Lieutenant Ray Lunny. Loring, does have an extensive public profile available for viewing via Web search. He is a regional medical director for CEP America, is vice chief of staff at St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco, and "is the current president of the San Francisco Emergency Physicians Association."

And, apparently, the life of the party.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
