San Francisco police are investigating the death of a man who fell from the roof of a Mission District hotel as a potential homicide.

Shortly after 7 p.m. last night, witnesses saw the 50ish white man's body crash through trees and hit the pavement in front of the Crystal Hotel at 2766 Mission. Police told SF Weekly witnesses also saw a suspect run from the roof following the fatal plunge, making this death "suspicious."

The city's Medical Examiner's office told SF Weekly the victim has been identified but his name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
