Game Over for Sega's San Francisco Studios

It actually wouldn't have been that great of an April Fools' Day joke to convince everybody that Sega Studios San Francisco was kaput, considering the game company recently laid off 30 people in the office. But unfortunately, it appears we're going to have to file this one in the not-funny-cause-it's-true-category.

That's right. Sega Studios San Fran is no more, according to an anonymous but apparently inside source of 1up.com (Our calls haven't been returned). For those who aren't 13-year-old boys (or 13-year-old boys operating from inside decidedly older bodies) you might not know this was the studio behind the 3D remakes of Altered Beast and Golden Axe games, and Iron Man movie tie-ins.

According to the original source on the story, Sega Nerds, the office could be shuttering its doors as soon as, well, right now.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
