Gotcha, Supervisor Facebook!

Posted By on Thu, Feb 25, 2010 at 8:30 AM

Yesterday we spotted Supervisor Chris Daly pontificating on Facebook -- in the midst of a Board of Supervisors meeting. Of course, Daly is far from the only supe to regularly update his Facebook page in mid-meeting; we noted that one of his colleagues has picked up the nickname "Supervisor Facebook." We're told Daly -- who is not without a sense of humor -- posted a link to our story on his Facebook page and queried why can't he be Supervisor Facebook? Well, you can't -- because Supervisor Eric Mar is!

Here's a screen capture of Mar updating his Facebook page in the midst of yesterday's meeting; these are photos of the community activists the supes honored snapped by Supervisor Facebook and broadcast out to the world in real-time:

Of course, yesterday's meeting was a long one. So long, in fact, that City Hall crooner Walter Paulson sang not one but two songs. Here's Supervisor John Avalos updating his Facebook page live to inform the world of this:

Board of Supervisors President David Chiu is one supe who is definitely not Facebooking during meetings -- someone's got to run things. He says he doesn't have a policy on Tweeting or Facebooking while doing government business. "I don't have any strong feelings either way -- it is a way to engage the public about what is happening at the meeting. I'm sure some of my colleagues feel that way," he said. "Obviously, I hope everyone is focused on the meeting at hand."

And, in Mar and Avalos' defense, snapping a photo during a honorary session of the meeting probably didn't do anyone harm. And there is no better time on God's green earth to slip onto the Internet than when Walter Paulson starts singing.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
