Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2 p.m. - Full Board of Supervisors

This is a very short meeting -- just 30 items on the agenda -- which leaves lots of time to talk about what Gavin Newsom is going to do next. (My guess is that eventually he'll start a liberal think tank ... and that this is probably a pretty good job for him. A slightly humanized version of "Gavin Newsom" makes a damn effective ambassador of liberal causes -- especially if someone else is going to do the actual implementation).

Worse than the small size of this meeting, however (remember there was a meeting?) is the fact that almost every interesting item on the agenda has already passed its first vote, and just needs to be approved a second time.

Rental subsidies for low-income families? Check.

Campaign finance reform ordinances? Check.

Revisions to the transportation code? Check

Etc. etc.

The proposed Entertainment Commission reforms are on deck, and they haven't been voted on yet by the Supes, so there is that. But those bones have also been picked over pretty thoroughly by now: All that's left is the horse trading. Well, technically horse bone trading, if I'm going to be consistent with my metaphors.

There's also Ross Mirkarimi's bill to ban the declawing of cats; that's before the Supes this week. But despite the gruesome subject matter, that's a fairly low-drama bill. Or at least it would be if Ross were to stop meowing whenever he presents it.

After that, we're in the dregs: thanks to Bevan Dufty, Nov. 8 to Nov. 14 is going to be declared "Radiology Week."

Now, PAY ATTENTION people! There will be NO Radiology Week party in the Castro! BART will cease running at its usual time.

Wednesday, Nov. 4, 11 a.m. - Budget and Finance Committee

There are several things happening at this meeting, but the only ones you care about fall under the heading "John Avalos and Gavin Newsom continue to play tug of war with the budget."

How will state funding cuts be reflected on the ground in San Francisco? Will nurses get their pay cuts reversed? Etc., etc.?

Those arguments are being played out here. It's terribly exciting. Especially if you need a nurse.

Thursday, Nov. 5

10 a.m. - Rules Committee

Lots happening at this meeting, too. In addition to appointing people to the following city commissions and committees ...

• Immigrant Rights Commission
• Local Homeless Coordinating Board
• Sweatfree Procurement Advisory Group
• Child Care Planning and Advisory Council
• California State Association of Counties
• Entertainment Commission
• Pedestrain Safety Advisory Committee
• Police Commission
• Veterans Affairs Commission

... Michela Alioto-Pier wants to change the city administrative code to require ... REQUIRE ... that the city designate one month a year "Small Business Month," and to recognize small local businesses during that month.

Now, you see, that's just awful: If the city were to spontaneously get its small businesses a gift, or even a card, that would be a lovely gesture. But requiring the city to give its small businesses a present? Well, a present that you have to give isn't really a gift at all.

I'm just saying.

If Alioto-Pier is a celebration girl than Sean Elsbernd is a party pooper. He has a measure that would apply the city's conflict of interest laws to additional city officers ... which would prevent them from accepting gifts and having powerful people throw parties in their honor and all kinds of nice things. Honestly now, Sean: Someday someone's going to try to bribe you, and then you'll see how good it feels, and then you'll be sorry you were such a hater for all this time.

Finally, there will be a hearing on GoSolar's plan to develop a training center in Bayview; and then a metric ton of litigation. Make no mistake: We are the city that knows how to get sued.

1 p.m. - Government Audit & Oversight Committee

This meeting will be entirely devoted (Gavin Newsom) to a discussion of the Navy's plans for Hunter's Point (Gavin Newsom) the City's (Gavin) plans (Newsom) and so on and so forth. (Gavin Newsom)

That's all anybody will be talking about.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
