You've Been Stung: As Always, Multitude of Drivers Fail to Stop For Undercover Cops Posing as Pedestrians

If you had 38 moving violations in the office pool gauging how many miscreants the Ingleside cops would nail in yesterday's big pedestrian sting -- take a bow! You're the big winner!

Between 7 a.m. and noon on Wednesday, San Francisco police officers dinged the aforementioned 38 drivers who failed to yield to a cop posing as a pedestrian, in addition to arresting two drivers for misdemeanors and ordering three cars towed.

Highly visible pedestrian stings, it seems, are an excellent way to appease community members fed up with what they perceive as dangerous driving in their neighborhood:

Ingleside's Captain David Lazar made certain to note that, on Tuesday, a member of the public told the SFPD to keep an eye on reckless drivers on Alemany between Cotter and Theresa -- and his officers dinged 20 drivers there yesterday.

At a pedestrian sting out in the Parkside SF Weekly covered earlier this year, citizens made a point to shake officers' hands and congratulate them -- unusual behavior that indicates this is a good way for the SFPD to win hearts and minds. "Thanks for going after these guys," said a man at that sting. "It's horrific what goes on here."

So, if the cops are interested in quickly satiating vocal, concerned citizens, allow SF Weekly to serve as the conduit for something we've been hearing around -- especially after the death of 24-year-old pedestrian Melissa Dennison. How about a sting -- or just some police presence -- on de-facto freeways like Oak, Fell, and 19th Avenue?

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
