We like to make fun of the bicyclists, but every now and then something terrible happens to one of them and we feel the urge to take it all back. A little before noon on July 1, a 42-year-old man was riding his bicycle northbound on Valencia St. with his four-year-old son in a bicycle seat on the back.

As they rolled through a green light at 18th Street, a gray SUV (or PT Cruiser, perhaps) ran its red light and hit the bike, sending dad and son flying onto the pavement. Dad broke his back. Son was okay. Both were wearing helmets.

The San Francisco Police Department has officially asked for public assistance to track down the miscreant or miscreants -- who are still at large. Witnesses said the license plate said KAY with a heart symbol, and that the driver was a dark-haired (and obviously dark-hearted) girl in her late 20s. Anyone with info should contact Inspector Jim Custer of the Hit and Run detail at (415) 553-9516.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
