Got a Beef with SFSU's Cops? Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace.

Woe to he who polls the populace of San Francisco for public comment. It's kind of like asking residents of the former East Germany if they'd like a bottle of Coca-Cola. Oh, they'll take you up on your offer.

So it promises to be an interesting couple of weeks for the San Francisco State University Police force. As part of the department's accreditation process, public input on the SFSU cops' job performance is being actively sought -- almost as if police were wearing bumper stickers on the backs of their uniforms querying "How am I policing? Call (415) 405-3807."

If you're so thrilled with the performance of SFSU's finest that you want to drop in on a meeting at 1 p.m. on a Monday, you can do so on June 8 (same goes for those with a bone to pick with the campus cops). Or you can phone the above number between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. Accreditation officials, perhaps unwisely, noted that individual public comments are "limited" to 10 minutes. Ten minutes! This is San Francisco! They speak for 10 minutes when you tell them they can only prattle on for two. The transcripts from this meeting will certainly be longer than Anna Karenina.

Those who wish to weigh in are advised to keep their commentary focused on how SFSU's cops do -- or do not -- comply with the 462 standards the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies hold dear. Incidentally, the accreditation agency doesn't even list these standards on its Web site; you have to drop by the SFSU police department to pick up a packet (go to North State Drive -- at Lake Merced Boulevard, just south of Winston Drive. You can't miss it!).

If you're serious about that June 8 meeting by the way, be sure to write your speech down neatly and show up at 1 p.m. at Facilities Training Room 101,
located in the Corporation Yard A Building, on North State Drive.

Bring a snack.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
