over turf on who will distribute certain type of drugs and who will
take control of certain types of activities in the downtown area,"
Correa was quoted as saying on KITV Hawaii television (it is unclear if the chief actually said "Calif." or if this was an addition from a copy editor on the station's Web site -- who didn't bother to correct Correa's ungrammatical sentence).
"We've
put a lot of effort in moving this group out of Honolulu and then
different individuals will come back into Honolulu -- all part of this
same group." The chief estimated that up to 20 San Francisco
gangmembers have recently hit town and started raising hell --
including a broad daylight Chinatown shooting and stabbing in the last
week and change that have left a man fighting for his life.
It warrants mentioning that Honolulu's Chinatown is not part of San Francisco's Gang Injunction zone. Perhaps the city could look into doing something about that.
