On what would have been the late, great Chronicle scribe Herb Caen's 92nd birthday, WHAT IM SEEING acts as the ghost of San Francisco past with a sentimental trip down memory lane, in the form of a somewhat drippy letter to the three-dot journalist:

"For 60 years, you covered the life of a young-old city, a place of endless fascination that grew up overnight and had long preferred to face the dawn, bottle in hand, than the hangover of tomorrow's cold reality."

It's a well-written tribute that anybody interested in the history of San Francisco or good-old fashioned journalism should check out.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
