District Attorney Files Criminal Charges Against Supervisor Ed Jew -- Perjury and Elections Violations Alleged in ComplaintThe San Francisco’s District Attorney’s Office today filed criminal charges against Supervisor Ed Jew.
According to court documents, Mr. Jew allegedly lied under oath and falsified documents regarding his residency in order to obtain a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. It is alleged that he committed perjury, filed false documents and that he did not live in District 4 when he ran and won a seat to represent District 4.
Will he reveal his mysterious new employer? Announce a new reality television show? Secede from the union? Strip? Your guess is as good as ours. More info here and here. Read more on Wolf's journalistic progression this week in Matt Smith's column (scroll to the last section).
The Chron recently reported that an alleged Tenderloin crack dealer in a wheelchair, Walter Simon, is getting brought up on weapons charges after being involved in a gunfight in April. None of the stories I’ve read about this case mention its most cinematic aspect: When someone rolled up on Simon and started shooting, his girlfriend jumped in front of him and took three bullets in her side, according to an April 14 search warrant affidavit (Page 1, 2, 3, 4). Now that’s love!
Yesterday was supposed to be the first of two bail reduction hearings for the San Francisco 8 -- former members of an armed offshoot of the Black Panthers, the Black Liberation Army, who were charged in January for crimes supposedly committed 36 years ago, including acts of conspiracy and the murder of a police officer, Sgt. John Young. They’re being held on bail from $3 to $5 million each.
