For a unique twist on Snoop Dogg's 1993 hit single, "Gin and Juice," check out Oakland's Ensemble Mik Nawooj's version. The self-proclaimed "hip-hop orchestra" has a knack for deconstructing songs and reassembling them with operatic flair and clever wordplay. Led by composer and pianist JooWan Kim, the ten-piece ensemble includes rappers, sopranos, wind and string instruments, drums, and piano.

The music video to "Gin and Juice" is a dizzying collection of still images that, at first might not make much sense, but if you listen to the lyrics, you'll notice humorous coincidences, like images of Homer Simpson around the lyric "smoking indo" (get it?) or pictures of Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Laurence when the word "gin" is used.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
