If you live in the Bay and like rap music, surely you know who Oakland native Kamaiyah is? If that doesn't ring a bell, maybe her break out hit, "How Does It Feel?" does?
Ever since dropping "How Does It Feel" in last fall, Kamaiyah has been blowing up. She's played regularly on 106 KMEL and has been written up in practically every major music outlet, including Pitchfork, MTV, XXL, and Stereogum. Last month she dropped her debut EP, A Good Night In The Ghetto, which featured a song with L.A. rapper YG, among other local acts. Recently, she played a show at South By Southwest presented by Converse and now rumor has it that she has a song with both Kehlani and Drake on the way.

The Drake news came out during an interview with XXL wherein the 24-year-old punctuated her statement about having "a huge feature coming" with a nod in the direction of Drake's XXL magazine cover from 2013 (which I guess just happened to conveniently be lying around at that exact moment).

This shouldn't be surprising. The 6 God has long had a reputation for keeping an ear out for promising up-and-comers, including Tinashe, Jhene Aiko, The Weeknd, Partynextdoor, and Dej Loaf. As she tells it, Drake heard one of her songs (we're willing to bet it was "How Does It Feel") and contacted her to discuss working together.

Of course, this might have just been wishful boasting on Kamaiyah's part, but XXL reached out to her manager, Francois Wiley, who confirmed the collaboration. "Drake followed her on Instagram back in December and they've been talking, texting, and yeah, there is a Kamaiyah and Drake record on the way," he told XXL.

The track won't be on Drizzy's new record, Views From the 6, but it should be coming out in the next few months, Wiley said.

Now, if this is not exciting news, then I don't know what is. A song with Drake might not make Kamaiyah as rich as she wishes to be in "How Does It Feel," but it will launch her into the spotlight and bring more opportunities in the future (that might eventually lead to her becoming rich).

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
