News broke last night that ex-Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman, Scott Weiland, died at the age of 48. A Facebook post on Weiland's personal profile appeared in the early hours of Friday morning, announcing his passing. It read simply: "Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected."
An outpouring of grief, from peers, friends and fans immediately emerged on social media and continued throughout the night. Here are just some of the tributes...

"I met Scott Weiland at the kerrang! awards in 2001. i was the nerd among rockers. while power drinking my way through my complete awkwardness, i spotted him across the room. my fan boy mixed with whiskey pushed me to a peak of embarrassing levels when i said to [LTJ bassist, Roger Lima], "im going over to meet scott weiland and you are going to take a picture of us." nervous as hell, i approached the man i believe is one of the greatest frontmen of our (or any) generation. i fumbled through some stupid lines about how much his band changed my life and asked if my friend could take picture of us. he said not one word, stood next to me, and with a huge smile on his face, rog said "ok. on 3. 1...2...3!" and he snapped the photo you see here. i never met him again but i have always kept this photo. stone temple pilots have always been a massive songwriting influence to me and Scotts' choice of melodies and lyrics always made my heart soar and eased my soul. my thank you would never be enough. #ScottWeiland"

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
