Romance is the overarching theme of the week, with Nicki Minaj opening up about her relationship with Meek Mill, Ryan Adams pouring his heart into 1989, and even Jimmy Fallon and Lionel Ritchie having a touching moment. But it's not all hearts and flowers — we've got the rage of Azealia Banks and an "unpolished turd" from Morrissey to balance out all that love...

Here are the quotes of the week:

“I knew that if I sang them from my perspective and in my voice, they would transform. I thought, 'Let me record 1989 like it was Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.'"
In case you’ve not heard it yet, Ryan Adams’ version of Taylor Swift’s 1989 album is incredibly good. (Rolling Stone)

"They’re not cover songs. They’re reimaginings of my songs, and you can tell that he was in a different place emotionally than I was. There’s this beautiful aching sadness and longing in this album that doesn’t exist in the original."
Taylor Swift is into it. (Heard on Beats 1)

"Do not read this book; do not sully yourself with it, no matter how temptingly brief it seems. All those who shepherded it to print should hang their heads in shame... It is an unpolished turd of a book, the stale excrement of Morrissey’s imagination."
The Guardian's Michael Hann read Morrissey's novel List of the Lost... and apparently, no one else should. (The Guardian)

“Another thing people don't realize is I've only had three boyfriends in my whole life. I've never dated around. I don't have a whole lot of experience in that department… We're just like any other couple in the hood.”

If you are familiar enough with Lionel Ritchie's "Hello" video, this is one of the greatest musical moments in Jimmy Fallon history:
“When you see someone you love hurting, for such a superficial, bulls**t reason, it's like, how small and spiritually unenlightened and dumb as f**k can a person be?"
Ariana Grande is not a fan of homophobes. (V Magazine

“Now you all can sit here in your fake outrage and discuss this amongst yourselves !! I’m headed to the beauty parlor! SIYONARA MOTHERFUCKERS”
Azealia Banks' measured response to objections, after she was filmed flipping out on a plane and calling someone a “fuckin’ faggot”. (Twitter

"Putin phoned him. He said: 'I know some guys played a trick on you on the phone, but don't get offended. They are harmless people, though that of course does not justify what they did.'"
According to spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Vladamir Putin called Elton John for real this week. (Reuters)

"He wasn’t a revolutionary.... Chet wasn’t on that level, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something really beautiful and valuable about his art. And he was cool — the definition of cool."
Ethan Hawke on jazz legend Chet Baker, who he plays in new biopic, Born to be Blue. (Rolling Stone)

And finally, here’s the trailer for the new Green Day documentary…

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
