This Week: Tyler the Creator's in Hot Water, Miley's in Mid-Air and Tyga's in Bed With a Young 'Un

We apologize in advance for the fact that both videos featured in today's end-of-week blog are Miley Cyrus-based, but she made too many valuable points about nipple censorship in the first one, and the second one just serves to prove how much little MTV cares about Cyrus doing something controversial at this Sunday's VMAs (it's clearly exactly why she was hired to host). Controversy has not been so kind this week to Tyler The Creator, however, who's facing a ban on entering the U.K., or Dr. Dre who's finally taking some heat over his history of beating women. It's not all grim news though... One Direction might be breaking up! Woo-hoo!

“BASED ON LYRICS FROM 2009 I AM NOT ALLOWED IN THE UK FOR 3-5 YEARS (although i was there 8 weeks ago) THAT IS WHY THE SHOWS WERE CANCELLED.”
Five minutes after the cancelation of his dates in Australia, the U.K. has denied Tyler The Creator a visa to perform there this week. (Twitter)

"Coming to the U.K. is a privilege, and we expect those who come here to respect our shared values. The Home Secretary has the power to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the U.K. is not conducive to the public good or if their exclusion is justified on public policy grounds."
The British Home Office is not fucking around. (NME

“Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life. However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man.”
Dr. Dre apologizing for his history of violence against women. (New York Times)

"They say she young/ She should have waited/ She a big girl, dawg, when she stimulated.”
Tyga’s written a song called “Stimulated”, in which he basically dares authorities to charge him with statutory rape. Not that smart, Kylie Jenner's boyfriend. (Billboard)

"My dad would rather me have my tits out and be a good person, than have a shirt on and be a bitch... If you've got your tits out, you can't really be an asshole — people are already judging you."
Miley Cyrus was pretty great on Jimmy Kimmel...

"It's difficult for people to separate us. The internet wants to freeze this moment in time and constantly repeat it."
Selena Gomez on her relationship with Justin Bieber. (The Sunday Times)

“We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well-earned break at some point next year.”
One Direction are splitting up! Niall Horan practically just said so! (Twitter)

“Bruce wrote of the people and places that I knew. He wrote about our hopes and frustrations. He gave voice to the suburban kids like me who were filled with dreams and doubts. He was one of us.”
It’s the 40th anniversary of Born To Run and Chris Christie is still REALLY into Bruce Springsteen. (Twitter)

“W were putting everything we had on what we'd done. So it was just traumatic. It was just all that there is and all that there was gonna be. [It felt like] there were gonna be no more records after this record. We were all going off a cliff the next day, as far as my approach to it.”
Bruce Springsteen, on Chris Christie’s favorite album. (Rolling Stone)

“We have a delay so we’re prepared for her.”
The VMAs are this Sunday and MTV is taking the precautions necessary after hiring Miley Cyrus as host. (Billboard)

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
