Last Week: Lily Fights for Kanye, Iggy A. Fights for Britney, and Hayley W. Fights for Punk Rock Decency

[Editor's note: All Shook Down was busy celebrating a federal holiday and failed to post our weekly quotes blog on Friday. So here it is today.]

Last week was all about monsters. Everyone has their own idea of what a monster looks like. If you're Iggy Azalea, it's the media. If you're Glastonbury Festival fans, it's Kanye. If you're a nun, it's Katy Perry. If you're Cedric Bixler-Zavala, it's a past version of yourself. And if you're a bigot like Lil Scrappy, it's transgender people. Clearly, Scrappy is the real monster here...

Here are the quotes of (last) week:

Lily Allen did her best to rid the Festival of anti-Kanye propaganda:

"I thought it was hilarious until I saw that she'd burned it and gotten all self righteous about it. I don't care who you are, you have no right to steal my stuff and vandalise it. Get off your high horse and stop nicking things."
The owner of the 'Fuck Off Kanye' flag was upset that Lily had stolen it from the Glastonbury campsite when she was elsewhere. (NME)

"the amount of pervy/predatory vibes that are surrounding the tour this summer is astounding. What happened to our scene?... I still believe in you, scene. Demand better bc you deserve better. No more excuses for boys just "being boys"."
Paramore's Hayley Williams was just one of the people who expressed outrage when Front Porch Step (aka Jake Mcelfresh) was added to 2015's Warped Tour bill, despite previous accusations of sexual misconduct. (Twitter)

"The kid got himself in a little trouble. No charges, no court appearance, no restraining orders, nothing, it was a 'stupidity of the road' kind of thing. We stepped in and got him into counseling right away in Nashville."
Warped Tour organizer Kevin Lyman apparently thinks sexual misconduct can't be helped, because: "the road." (Billboard)

"How can you take a song that's about hope and turn it into hatred? The message, the overall message, is we gonna be alright. It's not a message of 'I wanna kill people.'"
Kendrick Lamar is as bemused by the Fox News reaction to "Alright" as we are... (TMZ)

"Well, I found Katy Perry and I found her videos and... if it's all right to say, I wasn't happy with any of it."
Sister Rita Callanan doesn’t want to sell her convent to Katy Perry. No, really, this is a real story… (NME)

"I feel like the media wants women in music to get out and mud wrestle each other...Women in the media should be able to have a grown up and subjective opinion without it being anything more than that... No one is throwing shade or shots on either side of the table. The girl is my friend and I support her 100%... Women in music are not the same as teen drama. We are business women & artists. Not mean girls."
Iggy Azalea responding to this week's fabricated feud between herself and Britney Spears over "Pretty Girls". (Twitter)

"Men wanna be women! I love my dick... I want to be a man. I love it when I stand up and piss... I like to swing my shit... I don't wanna be a woman. I don't wanna get none of that shit. For the world of young kids, for the world of young little boys, stick to what you were made to be. If you got a penis, be a penis. Be a man. Women, if you was made and you got a pussy, rock yo' pussy... Ain't nobody rock it like you."
Lil Scrappy has a serious transphobia problem. (VLAD TV)

“I was a total monster. I was spending $1,000 a week on weed... I've come to realize that... it's only you yourself that creativity comes from. It doesn't come from weed. In this day and age, the stuff people are smoking is not necessarily even naturally grown from the ground, anyway; it's basically been altered to fuck you up and fuck you up royally.”
Cedric Bixler-Zavala — from At The Drive-In, Mars Volta, Antemasque — is off the weed. (Vulture)

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
