The Sounds of Asian America Tumblr unearthed a gem from Jeff Adachi's past.

"The Ballad of Chol Soo Lee"  was a 1978 single intended to raise funds for Chol Soo Lee's defense. Lee was a Korean immigrant who was falsely convicted of murdering a Chinatown gang figure in San Francisco in 1973. His case became a major cause for Asian American activists, including Adachi, and he was eventually granted a new trial and acquitted.

A young Adachi, San Francisco's public defender and subject of this week's cover story, can be heard plucking away a smooth bassline as the vocalist sings, "He's not the only one / Nor does he stand alone / Joined by us all / His spirit will carry on."

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
