World music fans have a special show to get excited about tonight: Dom La Nena, the young singer/cellist, is playing Leo’s Music Club.

The 25-year old’s sophomore LP, SOYO, debuted at #1 on the iTunes music charts and oozes with international flavor. It was recorded in Lisbon, Paris and Mexico City, mixed in Sao Paulo and mastered in Miami. The result sees the soft-voiced wunderkind surrounded by lush keys, strings, traditional Brazilian instrumentals and beyond, while she courses through a soothing multi-lingual journey.

Whether it’s the French, “Juste Une Chanson” or the Portuguese “Vivo Na Maré,” listening to Dom La Nena evokes the feeling of an afternoon on the Copacabana shore, followed by an evening stroll through the vibrant streets of Ipanema. Here’s to hoping Leo’s serves caipirinhas.

Dom La Nena plays Leo’s Music Club in Oakland tonight [4/8] at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
