Turn on the Bright Lights, alternates between moody, down-tempo post-punk (“NYC”) and jump-up-and-down rockers (“Obstacle 1”).
Antics is
Bright Lights' more muscular brother: the album still draws from the same dark palette, but the guitar lines are more bold. Each of these albums won a massive audience: they earned the band headlining gigs at major music festivals like Lollapalooza, and each also sold over half a million copies.

Heading up the steep sidewalks of Nob Hill Friday night to see Beck play the first concert at the rechristened Masonic since undergoing a significant overhaul by new proprietors Live Nation, I wasn’t sure which rebirth intrigued me more.
