Outside Lands sold out faster than ever this year, but it looks like some of those who scooped up tickets were just looking to make a pretty penny. How else to explain Craigslist posts like this, offering up two three-day general admission passes to the festival for a pretty assholish $600 each? That's more than twice the face value of the tickets. In another sign that this is a money-making scheme and not a concertgoer whose plans changed, the same post offers two VIP passes for -- are you sitting down? -- $1,000 each. Which is also more than double their face value. And they weren't cheap to start with.
We should note that these prices are definitely the high-end of what's available now on Craiglist, and thus anyone would be kinda stupid to pay them. Most GA three-day passes seem to be going for between $350 and $450, which is a comfortable margin above their face, but not exorbitant*. But with this year's near-instant sell-out of the festival, and these high-as-hell resale prices, it might be a sign that opportunists have discovered Outside Lands -- and they could make things much harder for people who just wanna go see the music.
* "Exorbitant" here being defined as: "Fuck you for charging this if it does not include either Prince playing in a tiny room, or the Rolling Stones performing a full set, or both."
