Burger Boogaloo Announces 2014 Lineup: Ronnie Spector, Milk 'N' Cookies, More

Posted By on Wed, Feb 19, 2014 at 9:34 AM

After a successful outing last year at Oakland's Mosswood Park, Burger Boogaloo -- the two-day Bay Area festival presented by Fullerton's Burger Records -- is coming back this July 5-6, 2014. The annual gathering of the cult of big yellow button-wearers will this year be honored with a headlining set from the girl-group leader, legend, and major influence Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes. Also noteworthy is the first West Coast appearance by Long Island proto-punk band Milk 'N' Cookies -- and many names on the list of punk, garage, and pop bands (several of them local) who'll be strutting in Oakland this summer. Check out the full lineup, and find more info at Burger Boogaloo:

Tickets are $35 per day or $50 for a two-day pass. Get 'em here. And just for fun:

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
