Watch: Dave Chappelle Crowd-Surfed to Skrillex at the Independent Last Night

Posted By on Tue, Feb 4, 2014 at 3:21 PM

Via Noisey, here's your awesome music video clip of the day. Skrillex kicked off his week-long S.F. takeover at the Independent last night, and the show was attended by none other than world-famous comedian (and longtime fan of S.F.) Dave Chappelle. As the night peaked, Chappelle went crowd-surfing -- and made it all the way to the bar at the back of the room. Truly one "for the books," as Skrillex shouts in the above video. It's nearly five minutes long, but you can fast-forward to Dave's ride at about 3:20 -- or watch the whole thing for a taste of the gut-rattling set you probably missed. Skrillex has five more shows in the Bay Area this week, and they're all super sold-out. No word on whether Dave C. will be crowd-surfing at all of them.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
