2 Chainz Fired His Bodyguard After S.F. Shooting Incident, Says He Lost Nothing But an ID

Posted By on Mon, Oct 7, 2013 at 10:51 AM

"He's not my bodyguard anymore," says 2 Chainz of the man who was supposed to have his back when the Georgia rapper and crew were robbed and shot at on the daytime streets of San Francisco in June, only hours before going onstage at KMEL's Summer Jam.

The 36-year-old rapper tries not to give up too much info in this new interview, but does allow that his hired protection was dismissed shortly after the S.F. shooting. He also seems to contradict police reports that he lost a wallet and a phone in the incident: "I pretty much think I moved on. It was two guys, it was guns, I didn't lose a chain, I lost a piece of ID... I'm fine. I don't drive anyway. The license was $5.

"Did I feel some type of way? Yeah, 'cause you got people saying they took something from me when ain't nobody took nothing. Did I get over it? Sooner than people can imagine."

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
