Posted By on Tue, Aug 27, 2013 at 9:07 AM

Popscene, the club night that started as a celebration of Britpop and became the country's longest-running indie weekly, turns 17 years old this Thursday. Chief organizer and Live 105 music director Aaron Axelsen had been keeping the name of this week's headliner under wraps -- until this weekend, that is. Washed Out plays the Rickshaw Stop, a smaller venue than you'd normally catch the act in, on Thursday with Popscene DJs. Tickets are still available.

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
