Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2013 Lineup: Your First Clues and Answers Are Here

Posted By on Mon, Aug 5, 2013 at 12:03 PM

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass organizers have begun announcing the lineup for this year's free, three-day festival in Golden Gate Park. But as is usually the case, you can't find the performers' names all on a big poster just yet. The lineup is being announced through a series of song medleys, with the artist names and song titles unlabeled. The first medley of 10 songs went up this weekend; listen below. If you're really curious who's playing, skip to below, where -- spoiler alert! -- we've named nearly all the artists from this batch of songs.

Here are the songs and artists on HSB '13 lineup medley, no. 1, in order:

1. LP - "Into the Wild"

2. Bonnie Raitt - "Right Down the Line"

3. Pieta Brown - "Mercury"

4. Patty Griffin - "Don't Let Me Die in Florida"

5. Bettye LaVette - "I'm Not the One"

6. [Instrumental banjo song, title and artist unknown.]

7. Della Mae - "Turtle Dove"

8. Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside - "They Told Me"

9. Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers - "Little Too Late"

10. Natalie Maines - "Take It on Faith"

Did we get it right? Did you figure out No. 6? Who are you excited to see at Hardly Strictly this year?

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
