Listen: DRMS Releases Moody New Single "Night Forest"

Posted By on Fri, Jul 5, 2013 at 11:10 AM

DRMS is an Oakland duo whose name is pronounced "dreams." This fact is important, as the group's atmospheric, jazz-informed pop is decidedly dreamlike -- especially "Night Forest," a new song the band has released in advance of its show tonight (Friday, July 5) at the Independent. "Night Forest" unfolds slowly, amid soft guitars and keyboards, and rises slowly from there, with Emily Ritz singing about finding her way to her love in the dark. Just when you think the song will continue on its pleateau of mellow, a big surprise comes. It's another solid piece from this promising local outfit, which you can check out here:

DRMS opens for the excellent Rubblebucket tonight, July 5, at the Independent.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
