What's the loudest thing you've ever heard?

If your response isn't "a My Bloody Valentine concert," prepare to have it updated. On the heels of releasing their long-awaited third album, mbv, this spring, the Irish blare-merchants are planning a tour that will stop in San Francisco later this summer. If the last S.F. show in 2008 was any indication -- their climactic noise-detonation was heard for blocks around SOMA -- this performance should make jet engines sound mellow.

The band comes to Bill Graham Civic Auditorium Friday, Aug. 23. Tickets go onsale this Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m., and will sell for $45. Better start saving up for some really good earplugs.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
