In A Cloud II Comp to Feature Unreleased Songs From Ty Segall, Chuck Prophet, Papercuts, and More

Released in 2010, the In a Cloud: New Sounds of San Francisco compilation captured a particularly strong moment for some the city's best indie artists, including Sonny & the Sunsets, the Fresh & Onlys, Ty Segall, Kelley Stoltz, and more.

Now, Secret Seven Records is planning to put out a follow-up second compilation, sensibly entitled In A Cloud II. Set for vinyl release on July 17, the new record features songs from Vetiver, Chuck Prophet, Paula Frazer, Papercuts, Wymond Myles of the Fresh & Onlys, Hannah Lew of Grass Widow, and many more. Whether this collection will again mark an important moment in local music is unclear, since many of these artists have had their national profiles rise significantly in the last two years. But it does feature some of our favorite artists, and the fact that it includes unreleased songs could make In a Cloud II even more interesting. Stream the album and get more details after the jump.

Here's the tracklisting:

Side A) Vetiver 'Any & All' / Chuck Prophet 'Gotta Get Back To You' / Hannah Lew (of Grass Widow) 'Octopus Via Satellite' / Kelley Stoltz 'My Jacqui' / ' Wymond Miles (of Fresh & Onlys) 'Don't Ask This Of Me' / Papercuts 'Hey Jaqueline'

Side B) Ty Segall Band 'Swag' / Bad Backs 'Center Of The World' / Will Sprott (of The Mumlers) 'Under My Eyes' / Paula Frazer 'On The Way Back Home' / Lucky Eyes 'The Haunted' / Tim Cohen (of Fresh & Onlys) 'People Like Us' / Sonny & The Sunsets 'Broom & Dustpan (previously unreleased version)'

You can preorder In a Cloud II on the Secret Seven website, and remember, only 650 vinyl copies of these comps will be pressed.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
