If you could replace the drummer of any band, past or present, who would it be?
I would love to be the drummer for My Bloody Valentine or the Stooges. Maybe a KISS reunion tour with all original members and me as Peter Chriss.
A Patty Schemel--KISS reunion! I'll call my friends at Live Nation. Did you ever get a chance to meet a childhood hero that was a jerk once you met them?
Gene Simmons, actually. I was like, what? He was real ass-handy, and "chicks 'n' tits" -- I guess I always thought that was more of a stage persona, but not so much.
Have you been approached to appear on any reality TV shows? Can we expect to see you on Dancing with the Stars any time soon?
I did do a little thing for that show Sober House [with Dr. Drew]. I just came in really quick and talked about being a musician who's clean now, but yeah, any offers are always about sobriety, or how I work with dogs now. But I would never. It just seems so invasive, and the way you're portrayed I'm sure is not at all what you're like in real life, and the editing definitely exploits certain things, which is scary. It's like, "Here's some Ed Hardy clothes, they really want you to wear this Ed Hardy stuff, could you do that? It would be great." No thanks.
Will Hole ever get back together? Pretty please?
I wouldn't... Only if Eric and Melissa were involved.
Note: Just three days after this interview, the original Hole lineup did reunite for the first time in 15 years, for two impromptu songs at an afterparty for Patty's film screening in Brooklyn. I take full responsibility for planting that seed -- you're welcome.
Hit So Hard premieres in SF with Patty Schemel, Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson, and filmmaker P. David Ebersole on Friday, April 27 at the Roxie Theater.
