GWAR Cancels Friday, Nov. 11, Show at Regency Ballroom

Looks like there'll be no onstage dismemberment for you, Bay Area metalheads: Not even a week after GWAR's guitarist, Cory Smoot, died suddenly in his tour bus bunk, the venerable costumed metal band everyone knows canceled the San Francisco show scheduled for this Friday at Regency Ballroom.

The day after Smoot died, the band insisted it would be playing its previously scheduled live dates. But according to a representative for show promoter Goldenvoice, the band canceled the gig so that members can attend services for the deceased guitarist.

Ticket refunds are available at the place of purchase. Our condolences to the members of GWAR and to Smoot's family. We hope the band comes back to S.F. soon.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
