Okay, so he might be kind of a whiner. But Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco is also down for the cause. Prior to performing last night at the Fox Theater in Oakland, Fiasco dropped by the Occupy Oakland encampment and offered a few words of support and solidarity -- along with food, supplies, tents, tables, and a generator, according to a witness writing on IndyBay. He gave a brief statement during the group's evening meeting, then took off to play the Fox, where he also gave a shout-out to the Occupy movement. Of course, his presence didn't elicit quite the response of another rapper dropping by Occupy Wall Street, but we're sure the occupiers appreciated it nonetheless. [IndyBay via SFist] ---- Follow us on Twitter @SFAllShookDown, follow Ian S. Port @iPORT, and like us at

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
