LovEvolution (aka Love Fest) Is Back -- But It's Moving to Oakland

Super bummed when the crazysweet electronica festival and dance party in S.F.'s Civic Center -- otherwise known as LovEvolution -- was canceled last year?

Us, too. But the bummer is over. LovEvolution will be coming to the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on Saturday, Sept. 24, just outside the Oracle Arena. The Glitch Mob will be headlining; hit the jump for the rest of the lovely details.

Along with the Glitch Mob, Pendulum, the Plump DJs, and Isaiah Martin will share the main stage. The full line-up also includes a second stage with Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation and others. As in years past, the festival will also feature floats, including one with Moby.

Tickets are $25 and onsale now.

The day festival will be followed by an afterparty at the Oracle Arena.

Last year's LovEvolution was canceled due to concerns of overcrowding at the Civic Center, the festival's traditional venue. A death at Germany's LoveParade and difficulties finding a new location for the festival led to its demise.

This year, promoters hope the bigger venue will help the festival run smoothly.

Update: We called the promoters to find out more, but almost everyone was gone. Guess where? "We rushed to get this out because everyone was rushing off to Burning Man," spokesperson Brenda Dos Santos said, noting that she herself is heading there tonight.

"I do know that they were really sad not to be able to do it in San Francisco," Dos Santos added, noting that the organizers hope to bring the festival back to the city next year.

"We'd love to be back in San Francisco because that's what makes it so unique and exciting," she said, "to be rocking it right by City Hall."

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
