Free Concert Alert: Phono del Sol Festival This Saturday

Posted By on Tue, Jul 12, 2011 at 1:56 PM

Free music. Food. Parks. Hipsters. If you like at least two of those things, you should head over to Potrero del Sol Park by Cesar Chavez and 101 on Saturday, July 16, for the Phono del Sol Music and Food Festival.

Put on by the Bay Bridged and Tiny Telephone, the event will feature veteran hip-hop artist Aesop Rock and the honey-voiced Mirah as coheadliners, plus food trucks curated by Off the Grid. The festivities will last from noon to 6 p.m., with Sacramento's Appetite kicking things off at 1.

Hit the jump for the full flier and line-up.

Not convinced? Check out Aesop Rock's smart lyrics, slick delivery, and catchy samples in "Pigs."

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
