One of our city's many hidden musical gems is a solo tunesmith by the name of Dan Judd. Judd is more elusive than hidden; he's already released two full-length albums under his Sorcerer moniker for the Tirk label -- White Magic and Neon Leon, respectively. Still, appearances from the DJ/producer are rare, so we were pleased to discover that Sorcerer will performing this Saturday, October 23, at the monthly disco-centric Grow Up party. Before Judd takes over the decks at Madrone this weekend, we decided to share a few of his spacey, Balearic sound concoctions here.

Below, you'll find some unreleased Sorcerer music, including "Str8 Jacking," "Step Pyramid," "R&B Killa," and "The Attic Dub" (all nabbed off his extensive Soundcloud profile). All four tunes boast a similarly smooth, groovy vibe, comprised of nondescript vintage samples, a bevy of shimmering synth sounds, deep bass tones, AM radio fuzz, funky guitar licks, and a penchant for the laidback yacht rock 'tude, among many other sonics and ideas. We hope you enjoy the easy-listening dance numbers as much as we do.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
