Download a New Mixtape From S.F. Electro Whiz Blackbird Blackbird

Blackbird Blackbird might just be your new favorite local beat/synth psych-pop whiz. Not only is that video above for the song "Pure" overwhelmingly beautiful in a stuttering, trippy way, but this new "Little Respect" mixtape that one-man-project Mikey S. dropped today (for free) is perfect warm afternoon music. Or hazy, driving-over-the-Bay-Bridge-in-the-fog-music. (Watch the vid.) Or, well ...

"BLISS" is the tag on Blackbird Blackbird's Myspace page, and yes, this electro-psych-pop is pretty ecstatic. But it's a nonetheless tasteful blend of '80s haze, dancey beats, funk breakdowns, sampled vocals, and assorted synth-y scenery. Download the "Little Respect" mixtape here.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
