Somewhere in the middle of the separate-but-similar worlds of electro, dubstep, cumbia, hip-hop, and house exists Argentinian duo Frikstailers (pronounced: "freak-stylers"), a party-starting outfit that wants to show you the future of South American club music. And on its recently released four-soung EP for the ZZK label, Bicho de Luz, the Frikstailers do just that.

Producer/DJs Rafa Caivano and Lasandro Sona deftly incorporate the slow bounce of cumbia and hip-hop with the thick, buzzing bass and fractured vocal samples of dubstep -- adding a large portion of electro and house music's otherworldly sonics over the top -- to create a sound that shines like a bright neon sign inviting you to enter a new world of tropical dance music. And that's exactly what Frikstailers' Bicho de Luz EP does: It shows you a glowing glimpse of the duo's live set, which you can catch this coming Monday, September 27, at The Red Devil Lounge. Listen to the EP below and see for yourself.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
