Confession time: I'm currently having a love affair with an advance copy of the Fresh & Onlys' forthcoming album Play it Strange, which you can buy starting Oct. 12. I've never been as assured of this San Francisco band's greatness as many others, so this sudden infatuation is surprising. The point of all this: I highly recommend you download "Waterfall, a standout track on the album which the band made available for free download today. The song's haunting melodies are addictive after a few listens, especially the gorgeous rising guitar line that concludes the guitar solo. And when I say "addictive," I'm talking "Fuck You" addictive -- or so it has been for me. The song is so subtly, skillfully assembled that it takes a couple spins to make a full impression. Check out, and please let me know in the comments if I'm going crazy.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
