This is a pretty nice lookin' flier, don't you think?
It's not really a
big weekend for electronic music concerts and dance parties. Sure, the regular DJs and party promoters are milling about, doing what they usually do, which you're already likely to know about if you want to. And we don't really need to tell you to go see Too $hort at
Mezzanine on Saturday, do we? We didn't think so. So with all of that being said, we did some digging, and came up with some of the best bets to help you salaciously scratch your shady shindig itch.
Friday, September 10
When: 9 p.m. - 4 a.m.
Why: This one comes with the
Dirtybird seal of approval, and that's good enough for us. The local house and techno label's acolytes Claude VonStroke, Tim Green, and The Martin Brothers (Christian and Justin) joins Polish party-starters Catz n Dogz for one of their infamous late-night dance parties. The European duo just dropped its second album, an eclectic mix of street bass, disco, R&B, deep house, and hip-hop called
Escape From Zoo, on Dirtybird's
Mothership imprint, and is ready to deliver those same bouncing, low-end-laden sounds live and in person to whatever sweaty throng amasses tonight. International attractions aside, Mighty offers its patrons the opportunity to stay out and party until 4 a.m. with a whole ton of excellent local DJs, which you can do for pretty cheap if you RSVP

DJ Ayres, Eric Sharp, and Shane King
When: 9 p.m. - 4 a.m.
Why: Brooklyn's DJ Ayres is renowned for founding the "Best Party in NYC,"
The Rub, and he's bringing that certain
je ne sais quoi to San Francisco for one night only. The guy is big into hip-hop, but his track selections don't stop there. Patrons can expect a veritable potpourri of sounds coming from DJ Ayres' turntables, including (but not limited to) '80s pop, disco, house, and reggae. As his partner in crime, Cosmo Baker, puts it, The Rub has "something for everyone, no matter what you're into." We think you can safely expect to get that same treatment for this particular get-down. And don't miss the equally reliable opening sets from
Rock it Science founder Eric Sharp and
Hacksaw Entertainment's Shane King.
