A handful of awesome things are going on in the Mission this weekend, but we've decided to focus on two specific parties that are sure to satiate the dancing beast within all of you. If you're a fan of classic hip-hop and R&B, then you're in for a special treat -- and we've got the free DJ mixes to prove it. There's nothing quite like (relatively) warm summer nights spent listening to classic tunes and getting nutty with friends. Here's to the memories!

Friday, July 23

What: Get Loose! Special Edition w/ DJ White Mike
Where: Beauty Bar
When: 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Why: Beauty Bar's monthly hip-hop/dance/anything-goes get-down, Get Loose!, is doing an extra night from its usual slot on the first Saturday of the month. DJ White Mike is pulling together another bunch of eclectic jams for his mid-summer night shindig, and, of course, there's no cover for the whole night. Truthfully, there isn't much else to say about that. So, if you're contemplating giving this special edition of Get Loose! a go, check out this free mix from DJ White Mike, and you'll immediately know whether or not this party is for you.

Saturday, July 24

What: Debaser's '90s Hip-Hop and R&B Dance Party
Where: The Knockout
When: 9 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Why: Another standard in the Mission bar scene, the '90s-touting Debaser club is switching gears this month and trading in its usual alternative-rock playlists for something with a bit more 'flava'. That's right: instead of your favorite Smashing Pumpkins and Ace of Base tunes, DJs Jamie Jams, Emdee, and Stab Master Arson will come with an epic mix of classic hip-hop and R&B favorites from the golden era of those genres. Some of you may recognize every song the mixmasters drop, others may be a tad too young to know all the words to Adina Howard's "Freak Like Me," but age has no reign when it comes to drinking St. Ides 40s and C-Walking to some of the best music to ever grace Top 40 radio. Oh, and if you need to brush up on your '90s R&B trivia, look no further than this exclusive DJ mini-mix from Jamie Jams himself.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
