Isaac Brock to Perform at the Screening of 180˚ South

Posted By on Tue, May 25, 2010 at 10:55 AM

James Mercer of The Shins/Broken Bells and Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse both contribute original music to 180˚ South: Conquerors of the Useless, a new documentary about bliss-seeking surfer-mountaineers pioneering from Ventura, CA to Patagonia, Chile.

The film follows the adventurers on their 5,000-mile trek as they surf unfamiliar waves and even find themselves shipwrecked at one point. And Mercer and Mason Jennings actually visited Patagonia to collaborate on the score before joining Brock at his Portland cabin. Brock, playing as Ugly Casanova, will be performing an acoustic set after a screening of 180˚ South this Friday at 7 p.m. at The Victoria Theater.

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
