Like Free Energy? Win Free Tickets to Their Studio Taping Next Week

Posted By on Wed, Feb 17, 2010 at 7:12 AM

Philly act Free Energy indulges its upbeat classic rock influences, down to the cowbells, sax solos, and hand claps. The band definitely shows a different side to label DFA Records, which signed this crew of feel-good power poppers just to show all those dance floor addicts they still wanna rock from time to time.

Free Energy is coming to San Francisco a week from tonight as part of Noise Pop, supporting Foreign Born and our own Fresh & Onlys. While the guys are in town, they're also going to film a session with Yours Truly, masterminds behind that awesome Morning Benders clip we posted last week.

If you'd like to sit in while they do a live taping at Different Fur Studios on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m., we have one pairs of tickets available for the first two Free Energy fans to comment below.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
