The Blank Tapes: Big With the Brazilian Bonbon Crowd

Posted By on Thu, Feb 4, 2010 at 1:12 PM

Nothing says romance in Brazil like bonbons...well, bonbons and the Blank Tapes. A tune from the local indie pop act was placed in a recent commercial for Brazil's Sonha de Valsa, according to White Noise. The South American chocolatier's sweets were a delicious match for "Listen to the One," a crush-happy single about, um, listening "to the one inside." In the case of Sonha, those insides are filled with yummy, crunchy cashews, by the way.

If you'd like to see how well a confectionery snack goes with the Blank Tapes, grab a box of something cavity-inducing and head over to Bottom of the Hill on Saturday, when the band plays with Leopold & His Fiction and the The Lonely H.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
