One of my favorite shows of 2009 had to be Phoenix's gig at the Warfield. If you missed that one, or, hey, if you just want to throw a sweet party for your buddies, Live 105 has a great contest going on now. The radio station is hosting a show for one "loser" and his or her buddies. Basically you fill out a form that includes your admission of "why were you a loser in 2009." If you win, you get to see Phoenix at the Fillmore for a private gig  [Live Nation announced that this is a public show, available to non-losers and losers alike, so long as you buy a ticket] on January 26th. Worth spilling the facts about everything that sucked last year. You can always make it up in 2010, right?

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
