With the prevalence of digital cameras, everyone thinks they're a great rock photographer these days. But local gal Sandy Kim takes pretty killer shots of musicians, far removed from the stage setting. (Her work reminds me a little of Ryan McGinley)

She's gotten a ton of exposure this year, as one band she took stunning press shots for, Girls, took off internationally. Her collection also includes images of Hunx and His Punx and others from that scene.

Tonight Kim has a solo show at Ever Gold gallery (441 O'Farrell st. btw Taylor & Jones) that also marks the release of her photo book on Unpiano. The opening kicks off at 6 p.m., and if you stick around long enough, you never know who could show up to perform a couple tunes live.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
