Track of the Day: SpongeBob SquarePants' Jerky X-Mas

Posted By on Tue, Dec 1, 2009 at 12:29 PM

Normally I'm not a fan of cartoon music, but SpongeBob SquarePants is one of those characters that walks the fine line between kiddie and adult humor. Plus, what can I say, I'm a sucker for funny novelty holiday tunes. So today's Track of the Day is SpongeBob's "Don't Be a Jerk (It's Christmas)."

The list of SpongeBob's X-Mas etiquette tips including keeping your items to ten or less in the supermarket express lines, don't dig in the cereal box, and don't screen calls, among other funny little bits.

The song has inspired a couple videos. This one from Down With Tyranny! edits together clips from the cartoon show with photos of politicians as clowns, drawings of families with guns, and shots of Christmas trees. This version uses Legos to animate the song.

And the clip below includes shots of 2009's big jerks, including Mel Gibson, Letterman, Kanye, ex Miss California Carrie Prejean, and more.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
