response struck me as odd as I could have sworn I'd seen the DNA Lounge
previously listed as the venue. I went back over the Twestival blog and
found this
We had originally planned to use the DNA Lounge venue as we thought it would be a great location
and this
Unfortunately there were communication issues on both sides since we first engaged with them 2 months ago.
and this
Over time, given the lack of
communication between the owners of the location and their staff, and
coming across another venue that was very forthcoming and would let us
move ahead with planning the actual event we're all excited about, this
seemed like the best option.
We have reached out to them several times throughout the day in numerous ways, but have not had a single response. At
the end of the day, we would like to make amends and offer our previous
location complimentary tickets to our event on September 11.

Mystery solved I guess? Moving on, I suppose?

What
can one expect from TwestivalSF, other than a roomful of people staring
at their iPhones? A silent auction (including two Virgin America
tickets whee!), the aforementioned boozing, a motivational speaker (Dear God no), and special guest/Operation Smile ambassador "Adventure Girl". Yep. I just typed "Adventure Girl" without irony.
As
of yesterday, the event had sold 150 tickets. Despite the venue
confusion, TwitterSF is for a good cause (although I have to say
Operation Smile appears to be a celebrity cause
and I almost wish they had chosen something local), the $25 ticket
price is reasonable, and as the delicious booze will be there - so
perhaps should you.
