Latin fusion: it's not just for breakfast anymore. It's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. With that in mind, three forward-thinking Latin music acts appear at Café du Nord this Sunday, in a showcase called "C, the Musical." The reasoning behind the title? All three band's names' begin with the alphabet's third letter: Cuban Cowboys, Carne Cruda, and Cordero.

A brief description of the bands follows: Oakland's Carne Cruda  "isn't afraid to mash The Ventures against the Buena Vista Social Club and see what comes out"; Brooklyn's Cordero  "is equally at home amongst the New York art rock scene or the vibrant Rock en Espanol movement"; and SF's Cuban Cowboys  are "armed with mambo riffs, swooning surf guitar, and a killer live show."

All in all, should be a fun time for anyone into Latin rhythms and/or adventurous indie rock types.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
